THE TIGER WHO CAME TO TEA
One of the highlights of this year’s winter season has to be the smash-hit production of The Tiger Who Came to Tea. Following a hugely popular run in the West End, this show will now play at artsdepot’s Pentland Theatre until Monday 3 January 2022, and is one of the best days out in London for kids. The first thing to mention is that the Pentland Theatre is a fully accessible auditorium with raked seating for the perfect view. This makes it a top choice for anyone wanting to enjoy a hassle-free theatre trip with little ones, as everyone can see easily. The theatre is also a beautiful setting, and welcomes families with open arms.
The show itself is perfectly suited to children aged three and above, and runs for approximately 55 minutes with no interval. This is long enough for children to enjoy without them losing concentration. As there is no break, the kids won’t be distracted, and parents can relax for the duration of the show.
The Tiger Who Came to Tea is a much-loved show. It’s currently celebrating 12 years on stage and over 50 years as Britain’s best-loved picture book. Produced by Nicoll Entertainment and based on the book by Judith Kerr, this is a show packed with sing-along songs, oodles of magic and an abundance of clumsy chaos.
A SUMMARY OF THE PLOT
The stage show doesn’t venture far from the original script, although there are many surprises along the way which help to bring this production to life for little ones. The story follows a young girl called Sophie who happens to open the door one day to a very hungry tiger. The majestically striped tea-guzzler sets about eating and drinking everything in their home in a family show packed with laughter and feel-good vibes. Expect to be stunned.
Director David Wood OBE has done a fantastic job with this West End hit and it’s easy to see why he’s the country’s leading writer and director of plays and musicals for children. The show is specifically tailored to a young audience and is a great addition to the artsdepot’s festive calendar.
